Department of the Treasury Bureau of Engraving and Printing Celebrates the Chinese New Year

In celebration of the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is pleased to announce the newest additions to the Lucky Money Collection, “Year of the Tiger” and “Dragon Boat.”

The “Year of the Tiger” is one of the twelve zodiac symbols associated with the Chinese Lunar Calendar. This lucky money note features an uncirculated $1 note with the serial number beginning with “8888” exquisitely designed with decorative Chinese symbolism and packaged in a red folder with gold foil. The “Year of the Tiger” represents good fortune and prosperity, signifying success in the New Year. This note is sold for $5.95 and only 88,888 will be available for sale.

The Lucky Money Note “Dragon Boat” features, for the first time ever, a crisp uncirculated Series 2004 $50 Federal Reserve Note with a serial number beginning with “8888.” This lucky money note is attractively presented in a decorative folder, with the note encased in a protective, clear, acid-free polymer sleeve. This product is limited to 6,888 sets and is available for the price of $68.88.
