Historical Resource Center

Established in 1991, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing's Historical Resource Center is home to well over 2 million objects pertaining to the BEP and its products. The collection contains primarily two-dimensional objects such as artwork on paper, printing proofs, postage stamps, currency, revenue stamps, debt instruments, vignettes, and miscellaneous products. The Historical Resource Center also maintains photographs, correspondence, and miscellaneous documents. Items from the collection are used for exhibits displayed within BEP facilities in Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, Texas.

The work of the Historical Resource Center also includes a history program. Staff members perform independent research on the history of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and its products. Research findings are reported through short articles, research papers, timelines, and other materials.
